Detroit Island Music Festival “Rock City Concert Series” comes alive this summer 2019. For three historic days, the iconic Hart Plaza will play host to a once in a lifetime concert that will take audiences on a musical journey covering over four decades of music.
On Friday July 19, Detroit Island Music Festival presents “Blues and Barbecue” with Grammy Award Winner “Bobby Rush” and Friends that will include a complete line-up of some of our greatest local blues artists around the city. It will be a show you will not want to be miss.
On Saturday, July 20,2019, the show relives that mystical time remembering “Woodstock 50th Anniversary” with tribute to Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Santana featuring, "The Jimi Hendrix Tribute Experience", "BALL AND CHAIN: The Janis Joplin Experience" and a tribute to the iconic group Santana performed by the band "EVIL WAYS", the National tribute to Santana.
On Sunday, July,21 2019, we kick off the show with The British Invasion with “Hard Day’s Night” performing their tribute to The Beatles with a full catalogue songs exactly as the Beatles themselves did, each wearing perfect stitch for stitch replications of the suits made famous by the Beatles. And then after, “Satisfaction/The International Rolling Stones Show” will take the stage as the most authentic cast and production show available honoring the World’s Greatest Rock & Roll Band . Their likes of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and cast will bring a colorful performance to 50 years of classic hits of “The Rolling Stones”.
During all three days of the festival will be two stages of live performances beginning at 1:00 pm and then at 6:00 pm for the main attraction of the festival. In addition there will be an army of food trucks that will get to offer their best of the best of their Barbecue Ribs.
If you can make all 3-days of music of Bobby Rush, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Santana, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones performing some of the greatest rock songs ever, these national concert tributes are sure to leave you excited.
